Project duration: 2026

Funder: Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program – Humanity and Society (WASP-HS)

Project Budget: SEK 250,000

Futures With(out) Work: Autonomous Systems and Human Dignity is a research initiation project together with Lund University, Umeå University and a network of affiliated partners.

The project focuses on building a research group and secure funding to conduct the research. The focus of the group will be to: 1) investigate how autonomous systems and AI shape and reshape the fundamental nature of work and its implications for human dignity, 2) use future-making methods to theorize about desirable work futures with AI agents and autonomous systems, 3) develop evidence-based frameworks and actionable guidelines for organizations, policymakers, unions and workers to navigate AI-driven workplace transformation while protecting human dignity.
