We will be organizing a panel on the topic of “Algorithms, Truth, and Justice” at the annual International Science Festival in Gothenburg. Three researchers from the University of Gothenburg – Olgerta Tona, Aleksandre Asatiani and Charlotta Kronblad – will discuss why it is hard to for algorithms to establish the truth, what implications this has on the society, and how we can design better algorithms.
Panel description:
Algorithms hold promise of better and more objective decisions. From medical triage to news feeds, algorithms shape what we see and what we believe. But how truthful and just are they?
Let´s unpack how data is collected and labeled, how measurements shape what counts as “truth,” and where bias and uncertainty creep in.
What does it take to build algorithms that safeguard truth and justice? Spot the hype, ask better questions and recognize algorithmic systems that help us build a better future!
The panel will take place on Sunday April 19th, 2026, at 15:00 at the Gothenburg City Library. The event is free to attend. You can find more information at the website of the Festival.
